BEP Advisors led the Independent Group of Environmental and Social Consultants for the Ituango Hydroelectric Project of the Medellín Public Utilities Company (EPM). The Ituango Project is Colombia’s largest hydroelectric power plant, with an installed capacity of 2,400 Megawatts (MW). During its management, BEP Advisors represented the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB Invest). BEP Advisors participated in IDB Invest missions and organized and supervised compliance activities for the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) under the EPM-IDB Invest Agreement, adhering to IFC Performance Standards and IDB Safeguard Policies.
BEP Advisors was also instrumental in evaluating the Ituango offset project, based on an innovative habitat equivalency analysis methodology and a framework for assessing biodiversity compensation metrics and the project’s ecosystem services.
