BEP Advisors currently leads the Independent Consultant team for the Environmental, Social, and Health & Safety (IESC) components of the Fruta del Norte Gold Mining Project (FDN-Aurelian Ecuador-Lundin Gold). FDN is one of the largest gold mines in the region. The FDN deposit is located within a 150 km long copper and gold metallogenic sub-province, situated in one of the world’s most biodiverse regions, the Cordillera del Cóndor in Ecuador. Key tasks include: i) Assessment and gap analysis of FDN’s national EIA; ii) Review of the international ESIA in accordance with IFC Performance Standards; iii) Review of complementary environmental studies such as alternatives analysis, climate change study, cumulative impact assessment, ecosystem services analysis, critical habitat analysis, and biodiversity management and monitoring plan, in line with IFC performance standards; iv) Provide specific environmental recommendations for each study to meet the Equator Principles (EQ III), with emphasis on PS1 and PS6; v) Development of Environmental and Social Due Diligence reports; vi) Preparation of monitoring reports for the PAAS (ESAP) as per the recommendations of the lead banks, and reports for FDN-Aurelian Ecuador and Lundin Gold.
