BEP Advisors led and implemented an Environmental Due Diligence project for the Piedra Larga Wind Farm (Phase 1) in Unión Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Mexico. Phase 1 (90 MW) involves the installation and operation of 45 horizontal wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2 MW; a substation and operations center, two wind direction towers, the respective access roads, and 30 km of transmission lines connecting the main Ixtepec substation (2,500 MW) to the CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) from the Piedra Larga substation. Special attention was given to potential collisions involving migratory birds and bats, along with corresponding mitigation measures. The assignment was completed in compliance with the IDB-MIGA Environmental Safeguards, with the support of Mexico’s Nacional Financiera (NAFIN).
